Dr. Cletus K. Bertin
Executive Director, CARILEC
Cletus Kennedy Bertin, is the Executive Director of the Caribbean Electric Utility Services Corporation (CARILEC); an association of electric utilities, energy service providers, manufacturers and other stakeholders operating in the electricity industry in the Caribbean region, Central and South Americas.
He has worked throughout the Eastern Caribbean, Belize and Trinidad & Tobago, and with several governments, universities, corporations and multi-lateral institutions, including: Eastern Caribbean Telecommunications Authority (ECTEL); OECS Secretariat; Caribbean Centre for Development Administration (CARICAD); Commonwealth Secretariat; The World Bank, Global Information & Communication Technologies Department; Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), United Nations Department for Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) and the European Union (EU) Delegation to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, as a full-time employee and as a consultant, primarily in the fields of Change Management, Organisational Development, Capacity Building, ICT and Telecommunications.
Dr. Bertin was awarded a B.Sc. Management Studies (Hons.) from the University of the West Indies (UWI), Cave Hill Campus; a M.Sc. Management Studies (Information Systems specialization), from UWI St. Augustine Campus; and a Ph.D. Information Systems and Change Management, City University Business School, London, UK.
Mr. Nicholas Brisbane
Managing Partner, Green Edge Technologies
Nicholas Brisbane is a successful Caribbean multi-discipline Engineer, Entrepreneur and the Managing Partner of an international award winning architectural, structural and civil engineering design practice. With 28 years of experience and delivery on well over 200 successful projects in the region, Nick has strategy planned on well over US$450 million in design development projects and master planned projects exceeding 4000 acres of land use.
He has also proven to be a successful real estate developer for over the last 20 years with a proven track record of approximately US$100 million in successful real estate developments.
Nick understands the dynamics and multiplicity of challenges faced by our geographic location in the Caribbean including limited access to capital and infrastructure, the importance of resilience planning and engineering and the impact of the climate change on the small island states. Through his work, he became passionate about energy conservation and six years ago he launched Green Edge Technologies Ltd., a Caribbean based energy conservation consultancy firm.
Through Green Edge Technologies, Nick has been involved in energy strategy planning and energy retrofitting throughout the OECS which has led to many millions of dollars in energy savings for Caribbean commercial businesses. His strategy largely focuses on energy monitoring and data analytics to first understand consumption so that an effective strategy to reduce both a company’s footprint and overall usage may be implemented.
